This May, we take a moment to highlight our volunteers' accomplishments and celebrate them!
Our volunteers are an integral part of SLG all year long! Without their dedication to our mission and support of virtuous leadership, we would not be able to have the tremendous impact that our Annual Report indicates. This May, we take a moment to highlight their accomplishments and celebrate them. All of our volunteers are recognized in our 2024 Impact Report, and here are a few that stood out this past year.
Key Contributors
If you have been connected to SLG for a while, you will recognize these names on our list of Key Contributors. These volunteers put in countless hours of their time to support our programs, their Fellows, and our Mission. They are being recognized with milestone pins and deserve a round of applause for not only volunteering but for taking the time to log their impact so we can celebrate them! Thank you!
Volunteers receiving their 100 Hours Pins - Paul Becker, Bruce Engelhardt, David Foster, Art Gibb, Scott Jensen, Michael Loftus, John Mahoney, Kristi Neidhardt, and Don Vinci
Volunteers receiving their 250 Hours Pins - Sheldon Church, Joe Fougere, Mike Murphy, and Ray Steinmetz
New Volunteers on the Block - Kelly Harrison, Loralei Matisse, and Josh McClellan
Although these SLG alumni weren’t new to SLG, they (along with Renee Sherwood) were new to leading our programs and sessions. This group completed their Program Manager and Facilitator training to prepare them to lead and co-lead our signature Fellows Program and expertly deliver our updated curriculum. They received their certifications and are official SLG Program Managers and Facilitators!
Engagement Expert - Bruce Engelhardt
Bruce was our expert for keeping the mentor community engaged in 2024 and moving into the new year. Bruce created the Mentor Moment, a monthly newsletter that served as a resource for mentors, providing information and ideas that supported their journeys as mentors. With topics like accountability, setting priorities, and exploring the LITER virtue of LOVE, Bruce helped mentors fine-tune their mentoring skills and holistically engage with their Fellows.
Champions of Service - Sig Berg, Sheldon Church, Kristen Earp, Bruce Engelhardt, Joe Fougere, Mike Murphy, and Ray Rottman
Sig Berg and our Board Members and Program Managers made volunteering a full-time job in 2024. From speaking events and workshops to leading cohorts, EQ coaching, and mentoring, this group continues to embrace virtuous leadership and the LITER virtues.
SLG also had a dedicated team that worked on updating our Difference Makers (DM) Guidebook and finalizing the Teams Program refresh. Kristen Earp and Joe Fougere spent countless hours ensuring excellence for the 3rd edition DM and Teams curriculum and incorporating Sig’s new book The Virtue Proposition: Five Virtues That Will Transform Leadership, Team Performance, and You.
Mentor Champions - Paul Becker, Michael Bice, Sheldon Church, Bruce Engelhardt, David Foster, Michelle Gillis, Kristi Neidhardt, Deepak Rao, and Kristen Whitley
Holistic mentoring continues to be a cornerstone of our programming, impacting not just the Fellow being mentored, but our mentors report the valuable learning they experience walking alongside their Fellows. These Mentor Champions committed to working with 2 Fellows in 2024.
Community Catalysts - Kristi Neidhardt and Michael Calabrese
These SLG alumni co-sponsored a Viewing Event at the Annapolis Harbor Movie Theater in January 2024. They helped bring our network together to enjoy the screen adaptation of The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown - a foundational piece of our curriculum.
Pay it Forward Champions - Ryan Bailey, Colleen Cruikshank, Ashly McClellan, Michelle Rosela, Andy Schindling
This group of volunteers has been an example of paying it forward to the SLG community. As SLG alumni, Ryan Bailey, Colleen Cruikshank, and Ashly McClellan shared their impact stories with new Fellows and offered encouragement to future leaders by speaking at Cohort Sessions. Colleen also joined Michelle Rosela and Andy Schindling in sharing their testimonials to kick off our Perfect Pairings event in the fall of 2024. Additionally, Michelle recommended several colleagues as mentors and fellow candidates for the 2024 cohorts.
Team Champions - Terry Benedict, Justin Burney, Aimee Dalton, and Julie McGlosson
This team of Systems Planning and Analysis (SPA) leaders helped SLG create videos highlighting SLG's impact on their teams and organization.
